Hey Folks!
I’m starting to get the hang of my new job. I’m definitely still in training and will be for a while. Two of my coworkers were asked if they wanted to start working from home. One has been there for a year, the other ten months. Next Tuesday I’ll have three months under my belt.
Saturday we went to see Together at the theater. When I got home I was watching TV and Kristopher Triana texted me to tell me I’d won a Splatterpunk Award for my short story, “Together Forever”. The story was part of The Obituaries: Red Romance, Volume 6. If you’ve seen Together, and read my story, there was a solid theme on Saturday here. I wanted to thank everyone who read the story and voted for it. It was unexpected. This is the first award I’ve ever won.
It’s weird. I’d forgotten all about KillerCon and the awards. I’ve put any type of travel out of my head until next summer. I started with perks at the new job, but not a ton. I was able to take some PTO in my first 90 days but I used most of that on Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and I went ahead and scheduled October 30 and 31st already, knowing that only two people in the surgery department are allowed to take the same day off.
Speaking of October, Halloween is gonna be bigger and better than ever this year at our house. I woke up today, immediately opened The Home Depot website, and ordered a 12 foot skeleton. The damn thing is gonna be nearly as tall as our house. I’ve wanted one for years but hadn’t lived anywhere with a yard big enough for one.
I hope all of you are doing well. Again, thank you to everyone who voted for me and who read my story.
